1. Avoid smoking:

Smoking affects your cardiovascular system. A smoker may suffer from heart disease due to a reduced flow of blood. Aside from causing strokes and heart infections, smoking also contributes to cancer. Moreover, smoking often leads to premature death due to secondhand smoke. To avoid this side effect altogether, try to quit smoking by replacing cigarettes with e-cigarettes such as TONS. There are more than 1.2 million users of the devices in the United States alone. They provide similar nicotine delivery as traditional cigarettes combined with less tar, carbon monoxide (CO), and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Due to its ease of use, vaping has developed rapidly within recent years. Using electronic cigarettes is not nearly as appealing to smokers or new to vaping as traditional cigarettes. In addition to reducing your risk of lung cancer and heart problems, switching to an alternative method of tobacco use can also help reduce the harmful effects that nicotine has on the body.

2. Eat healthy foods:

Consuming healthy food has countless positive health advantages. For example, regular consumption of fruit and veggies keeps blood sugar stable and regulates insulin production without causing spikes and crashes. Healthy fats like olive oil, avocado oil, and fish oils also aid in regulating inflammation and reducing cholesterol levels so that your body doesn't store it as triglycerides, which can lead to heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and other serious diseases. Protein also acts as a source of energy and promotes muscular growth and repair. Vitamins C and D are extremely important for your immune system to fight off illness and infection. Both play a pivotal role in bone health and muscle growth, as vitamin D helps produce collagen, which is integral to building strong bones. Foods containing Vitamin K, known as milk and orange juice, promote wound healing, bone development, and wound healing. Fresh produce, meat (beef, pork, chicken, lamb, turkey), poultry, and tofu are loaded with iodine and folate, which are required for normal thyroid cell function. Your kidneys also require these kinds of food to eliminate waste fluid. Fruits and vegetables contain potassium. Potassium is essential for maintaining the proper pH levels in your blood, and too much can cause hypertension. Diets high in Vitamin C are useful in preventing rashes, ulcers, blisters, cold sores, asthma, and allergies.

3. Reduce screen time:

Increased exposure to computer screens can negatively impact both your physical and mental health. Screen time can expose us to UV radiation and prevent us from getting proper sleep and exercise. Although it can sometimes be difficult to change your behavior in regards to internet usage, you actually don't need to. Increasing the duration of time you spend outside the home, avoiding sedentary activities, implementing a morning regimen, and limiting excessive screen time can all do wonders for your health. Regular exercise is another great strategy for your wellbeing. Experts recommend that adults have 2-3 hours of moderate-intensity aerobic activity every day as well as 3-5 hours of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity, or 75%-90% of your total energy expenditure, such as brisk walking. Try incorporating yoga or stretching exercises into your weekly schedule as well. All of these efforts can contribute to improved physical and mental health.

4. Practice mindful meditation:

Meditation is a technique that aims to alleviate depression or anxiety and bring about long-term relaxation. Mindfulness meditation involves observing yourself as you are in a nonjudgmental, compassionate, accepting state of mind. Doing so helps you appreciate life's beauty and become aware of the present moment. Mindful meditation can also help relieve stress, boost mood, build confidence, and generally improve overall well-being. By bringing awareness to your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors, mindful meditation can give you greater insight into yourself than ever before. Being mindful is a form of mindfulness meditation that has gained popularity in recent decades. Many people have started to integrate meditation techniques into their daily lives, as research finds that people who practice mindfulness meditation are more likely to adopt these practices into their lifestyles. Practicing mindfulness meditation not only reduces stress but decreases anxiety as well.

5. Have a support network of friends, family, doctors, counselors and therapists.

Having a supportive network of friends, family, teachers, therapists, and medical professionals is beneficial in various aspects. At my office we work with patients for whom behavioral therapy and psychotherapy were ineffective prior to our intervention, and these individuals had a hard time managing their struggles before the arrival of our services. We often address some of their challenges through individual sessions or group therapies and collaborate with them after the sessions.
