Bad effects of gym:
This is an essay that talks about what the effects of a gym are and how it can be beneficial to our bodies, however some people are worried that working out causes certain things in their health and well being.
You are probably reading this from America where people work out 3-4 days a week at the most. Yes, we’re talking about all kinds of different activities, but you’ll be surprised to find that there are others that involve more than just cardio or weights, such as weight lifting, yoga, taichi, etc. It’s important to understand that these activities are not the only ones which have negative effects on your health. There are things like eating disorders, sleep problems, heart disease, depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia, muscle aches, joint pain, etc. All of those things can also take place due to excessive exercise.
According to the website here, “exercise, regardless of intensity, is great for mental health. But for other things, too much can be a bad thing. You may experience feelings of being constantly tired or burnt out, or you may end up feeling physically sore. Or it could lead to injury, especially if you spend a lot of time doing it.” The list goes on to describe situations which you might end up experiencing, but they are pretty common and that’s because there are so many options when creating a workout schedule and when choosing exercises to do. So, what can happen if you don’t get enough physical activity? Well, let’s dive straight into them. First comes fatigue, which leads to weakness and lack of energy. Next, there is the risk of getting injured, so keep moving! And last, there is the chance that you will gain more weight. It will be hard to fit it anywhere else, so make sure to include at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of high-intensity activity. I guess this isn’t as much of an issue with the gym when compared to home workouts. However, if you end up having any of these symptoms after a few months of following a regular workout routine, then you should consult with a doctor or fitness professional.
A healthy diet is very essential to keeping you away from these kinds of issues. What happens when you go the way of working out? Your muscles become weaker because the nutrients that were lost during the day are now not absorbed by your body. With this in mind, let’s jump into the next section: Weak muscles and weak bones. When you work out the food taken away from your stomach goes through the intestines into your large intestine—also known as the colon or large intestine. Then the food is broken down by bacteria in the colon to produce short gases that help with digestion. These short gases travel to your small intestine (sometimes called the duodenum), which is located right below the liver. From there they travel through another part of the small intestine called the jejunum. Here the short gases are converted into amino acids that nourish muscles in the muscle tissue. If this process doesn’t occur, the cells will stop being able to absorb nutrients, and this can result in muscle damage.
So, why is working out so bad for our bones?
It turns out that there is a chemical called phosphate in bone that is extremely important for our bones. Phosphate helps build strong bones by preventing calcium loss. If phosphate levels increase during a period of intense exercise, then it can cause osteoporosis. So, it’s really important to keep track of your intake of calcium while exercising, even at one to two times per week.
What makes a person who has obesity gain too much weight?
Let’s dive straight in. Excess calories consumed can directly affect the amount of fat stored in the body. According to Dr. George Thompson, a professor of nutrition at Virginia College of Richmond, “we burn 20% more calories in the same physical activity in every 10 pounds of weight gained”. As an example, a person weighing 200 pounds gains 50 pounds while running 30 minutes per week for 45 minutes. That means when you burn 50 more calories than you take in every day, you will start gaining around 100 pounds of weight over a period of four weeks. Now you may be wondering whether there are certain foods which we must avoid while working to maintain a good lifestyle and prevent all of this trouble from happening. Not only will we have to change the meals we eat, but there will be a need to reduce the number of hours that we are awake at night. Unfortunately, when you exercise at night to lose weight, you are burning off the protein and fats that your body needs to repair itself because of the high demand for oxygen.
So, what does this mean for us?
We can either try to cut back on our daily calories or follow a higher protein diet in order to preserve as much muscle mass as possible. Although, it seems unlikely that we would actually do both because there are studies which show the best strategy to prevent any kind of serious health complications from obesity is to incorporate adequate amounts of lean muscle as well as sufficient carbs, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water throughout our lifetimes.
